Grand Knight’s Message –ANNOUNCEMENT—Families In Need-We are making our Families In Need program more flexible by allowing Council members to make requests directly to the Families In Need committee members (Steve Gorbos, Ed Ortelli and/or Jim Transue). We want to be able to help individuals and families that need help without excessive prerequisites. $4,000.00 is budgeted for this each year. We limit donations to $250.00 or less. Please call any of the above individuals if you are aware of someone in need.

Thought for the Month – Look for ways to promote peace in your heart, your family, your workplace and your community.

110^th Anniversary Party- The 110^th Anniversary Party is scheduled for April 5, 2008 at Monocacy Manor. Please save the date. More details will follow in future bulletins.

Membership/Degrees – We will have a 2^nd degree on February 28, 2008 at St. Francis Retreat Center. We will have a 3^rd degree on April 13, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Francis Retreat Center. Members, get your recruiting hats on. There will be two 1st degrees on Sunday, February 17^th: 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Council #14377(Allentown) & 7:00 PM at St. Anne Council #12886(Emmaus). On June 1^st there will be a 4^th Degree Exemplification at Mountain Laurel Resort in White Haven.

Dues for 2008 – All members will receive their dues letters for 2008. Please return with your check to our Financial Secretary, Al Fiore as soon as possible. Your membership is the lifeblood of the Knights, so please remit ASAP.

Attendance Award – Brother John Repasch, Jr. was drawn for the November attendance award and was not present. Join us at the February 21st meeting and you could win $30.00. There was no drawing at the January meeting because we could not locate the container.

Knight Rider – Several knights are ready to pick up a brother knight to attend a meeting or other council event. If you’re unable or hesitant to drive at night, call Rick Scrak at 610-390-5638 or e-mail Rick at scrakman@msn.com to arrange a ride.

Council Web Site – Visit our web site at www.kofc313.org. All our scheduled events and newsletters for the 2008-2009 fraternal year will be available online soon.

Rosary and Food Drive – We say the Rosary at 7:00 PM, prior to each general meeting. You may also wish to make a cash donation to Victory House. Jim Hogg can buy food at discounts.

Pro-life – A pro-life Mass is held on the second Saturday of every month at Notre Dame Church at 8:00 AM. Following Mass, many say the Rosary at the abortion facility in Allentown.

Change of Address – If you are moving or will be temporarily away, please notify our Council’s Financial Secretary, Al Fiore of your new address, at 610-866-0034 to keep records current and avoid unnecessary post office fees.

Miller Blood Center - Kindly identify any blood donations at the Miller Blood Bank with Trinity Council 313. Call 610-691-5850 for an appointment. Knights and their families are eligible to receive blood when justified.

Congratulations- The Knight of the Month award went to Treasurer Jim Transue for his service. The Family of the Month award went to Trustee Steve Gorbos & Family. Thanks for all the good work.

Eucharistic Ministers for Brother Knights – If any Knight needs communion brought to him he should call me at 610-691-6303 to arrange this. Brother Knights who are Eucharistic ministers are available to bring communion to Knights in need.

Fraternal –Keep our sick in your prayers, including Leonard Verrastro’s daughter in law Roxanne, George and Dorothy Dyonda, Mrs. Gil Martin, Bob Banks, Vito Sabie’s brother-in-law and nephew, Deacon Bob Rogers, Hilda Johnson, Leonard Verrastro’s sister Catherine, Jim Faller’s sister Joan, Deacon Kelly’s wife Joanne, Phil Comito’s sister-in-law, Tom Michaels and his wife, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Albarelli, Steve Gorbos’ friend Marna Miller and his niece Mary Grace Smith and his Uncle Hilary, Steve and John Pecka, Bob Donnegan, Brother Francis, John Scholloser, Scott Bear, Bella Ortelli and Kenneth Haas. Also, keep in your prayers the families of all our departed Brothers who died recently.

Ecumenical Soup Kitchen – Volunteers will be needed for our next stint at the soup kitchen on March 15, 2008 from 1 to 3 PM. We need 8 to 9 volunteers to serve about 230 people. Call Rick Scrak at 610-390-5638.

Council Newsletter Advertisers – Support our advertisers. Newsletter ads reach about 340 members and friends every month, and they are available online. See our advertisers for 2008 on the front page.

Call For Action- We would like to have all Knights give 2 hours more a year to our efforts in the next 12 months. If everyone could do this think of what we could accomplish this year. You’ll be glad you did.

Council Picnic-We expect to have the Council Picnic on August 16^th this year. More details will follow.

Basketball Free Throw-We had 39 youngsters at the basketball free throw. Thanks to all of the volunteers. One youngster shot 14 out of 15! The District Free Throw will be held at St. Joseph the Worker in Orefield on February 15^th at 7:00 PM. The Regionals will be held in March.
