Grand Knight’s Message:  May is the month when we remember and pray for our mothers. It is also the month which ends with Memorial Day, when we remember our loved ones, especially servicemen, who have died. On May 24 His Holiness Benedict XVII has also requested all Catholics to pray to Our Lady, Help of Christians, to encourage the  faithful  Catholics in China to be fearless witnesses of the truth of our faith.

All Knights are strongly encouraged to attend the May council meeting and cast your vote. Your council works hard and needs the affirmation of  its membership!

 

Communion Breakfast and Awards.  Note, above, the date of Sunday May 17.   Monetary awards will be given to high school graduating seniors who are  children (not grand-children) of KofC council 313 Knights. You must advise me or another officer who will bring to my attention that you have an eligible graduating senior. (refer to phone list of officers).

  

Roundtable Update                                                              

Notre Dame: The last K of C breakfast was Sunday, April 26.  These breakfasts will be suspended for the summer months and will resume in October.

               

OLPH:   Our Knights continue to deliver, door-to-door, welcoming packages to new parishioners.  Note - volunteers will be needed for the upcoming carnival in June.

 

St. Anne’s : A poor man’s supper held on April 3 brought in approximately $102 for the St. Anne’s Rice bowl. Thanks to Bro. Jim Hogg for cooking and all of the Knights who helped.  

 

Cell phones collected from all three parishes will be brought to the May officers meeting for transmittal to Louise Tusak of the Special Olympics.

 Knight-of-the-Month   Trustee. Jim Hogg was named Knight-of-the Month for April. Jim can be counted on for many things but is especially cited for his willingness to take charge of the cooking, whenever needed.

 

 Ecumenical Soup Kitchen The next stint for the Knights to serve will be Saturday, May 16. Volunteers are always  needed.

Attendance Award  The name of Br. Edward S. Michaylira  was drawn but. Br. Ed was not present. The award advanes to $10 next month. The 50/50 was won by Br. Len Verrastro.

K of C insurance   Our own Council 313 Rick Scrak is your insurance Field Agent. Contact Rick at (610) 390-5638 for your insurance needs.

 Knight Rider – Several knights are ready to pick up a brother knight to attend a meeting or other council event.  If you’re unable or hesitant to drive at night, call Rick Scrak at 610-390-5638 or e-mail Rick at scrakman@msn.com to arrange a ride.

Rosary and Food Drive – We say the Rosary at 7:00 PM, prior to each general meeting.  You may also wish to make a cash donation to Victory House.  Bro. Jim Hogg can buy food at a discount.

 

Pro-life – A pro-life Mass is held on the second Saturday of every month at Notre Dame Church at 8:00 AM.  Following Mass, many say the Rosary at the abortion facility in Allentown.

 

Change of Address – If you are moving or will be temporarily away, please notify our Council’s Financial Secretary, Al Fiore of your new address, at 610-866-0034 to keep records current and avoid unnecessary post office fees.

Fraternal: keep in your prayers District Deputy John’s brother Dennis (leg Surgery), Br. Len Verrastro’s daughter Sarah (tumor surgery),  Bella Ortelli’s daughter (intensive care), Nora Lee Tarney, Tony Krier , Br. Steve Gorbos’ cousin Fr. Ray Bucko, and broadcaster Harry Kalas who had done a many charitable works in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

 

Families In Need   Council 313 continues to give strong support to our Families in Need program. Knights can apply directly to the Families in Need committee or requests may come through your Pastors. Contact Bros. Steve Gorbos, Ed Ortelli, Jim. Transue or Philip Comito. ($250 max. per request).
