Grand Knight’s Message:  As we close out the 2008-2009 fraternal year I wish to express my thanks to all my fellow knights for their participation in making this a productive year for Council 313. Our council has tried to increase the visibility of the knights in each of the parishes we serve as a means of attracting new members. Many of our knights have put forth great effort to make our various projects, collections, gatherings and celebrations both successful and rewarding.

I offer best wishes to the officers appointed for the coming fraternal year and I mention, again, my thanks to the council for allowing me to be your steward for the past year.

Congratulations to all who have won office! The new Fraternal Year commences July 1.

 

Communion Breakfast and Awards. This annual event started with 9:00AM Mass at OLPH, Msgr. Sacks, celebrant. The Knights provided an honor guard 14 strong!  Breakfast at the Palace Restaurant followed with a 47 person turnout. Awards of  $200. each were made to two high school seniors, Jeremiah Toolan and Brandon Johnson.

 

Citizenship  Awards. It is our practice to award $200 to each of four outstanding seniors, as selected by their respective (local) high schools. The awards will be made at the students commencement exercises. The winners are:

Columbian Awards. These are awarded at the K of C state convention based upon a council’s service to its respective parishes. Council 313 received awards in the family division and, also, in the community division. Kudos to all the work done by our knights serving our church communities!

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Roundtable Update:

                                               

Notre Dame: The last K of C breakfast was Sunday, April 26.  These breakfasts will be suspended for the summer months and will resume in October.

               

OLPH: The next event where knights can help will be the OLPH carnival with set-up 5/30-6/9 and event 6/10-6/13. Volunteers needed! Call Bro. Mark Sewell @ 610-442-8593.

 

Cell phones collected from all three parishes for the Special Olympians fund-raiser were delivered to Louise Tusak. Our collection amounted to a trunk full and Louise expressed surprise and much appreciation at the size of the haul.

ARC wrap-up. We were delayed in our collection at Notre Dame church but were finally able to collect the weekend of May 23-24. Our total collection for the ARC came within  $100 of meeting our target of $2500. A big thank you to all who helped in the effort. 

 

Ecumenical Soup Kitchen The next stint for the Knights to serve will be Saturday, July 18. Volunteers are always  needed.

Attendance Award  The name of Br. David Sherman was drawn but. Br. Dave was not present. The award advances to $30 next month. The 50/50 was won by Br. Chuck Hrichak.

Knight Rider – Several knights are ready to pick up a brother knight to attend a meeting or other council event.  If you’re unable or hesitant to drive at night, call Rick Scrak at 610-390-5638 or e-mail Rick at scrakman@msn.com to arrange a ride.

Rosary and Food Drive – We say the Rosary at 7:00 PM, prior to each general meeting.  You may also wish to make a cash donation to Victory House

 

Pro-life – A pro-life Mass is held on the second Saturday of every month at Notre Dame Church at 8:00 AM.  Following Mass, many say the Rosary at the abortion facility in Allentown.

 

Change of Address – If you are moving or will be temporarily away, please notify our Council’s Financial Secretary, Al Fiore of your new address, at 610-866-0034 to keep records current and avoid unnecessary post office fees.

Families In Need   Council 313 continues to give strong support to our Families in Need program. Knights can apply directly to the Families in Need committee or requests may come through your Pastors. Contact Bros. Steve Gorbos, Ed Ortelli, Jim. Transue or Philip Comito. ($250 max. per request).
