GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE

On June 30 we concluded the fraternal year, and it was a successful one. We raised thousands of dollars for worthy causes (Charity) , we supported each other by helping and praying for those of us in need (Unity), we gathered frequently for fellowship and socialization (Fraternity), and we supported our Order’s efforts to participate in the democratic process to better our country (Patriotism). We hope Fr. McGivney would be proud. But of course there’s plenty more we can and should do. Our recruitment of new members definitely picked up over the last year. Some of our newer members have advanced to officer positions. Let us keep this trend going and make recruitment a priority. None of this could be accomplished without the efforts of all of our brother members. Your Council thanks you for a great year, and knows it can count on you for your continuing support.

SEPTEMBER PICNIC

Trinity Council #313 of the Knights of Columbus will be holding their annual summer picnic on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Louise Moore Park in Palmer Township.:

We invite you and the members of your family to our picnic which will start at 11:30 and end at 5:00 PM.  We plan to eat at noon.  Grandchildren are invited as well and we will have game activities planned for the day.

We have reserved Pavilion #2 for the day and this pavilion has cover, electrical outlets, and a restroom.  Our officers have asked me to personally invite the widows of our Brother Knights who have been called home ands who gave so much to the Knights when they were with us.  Come and enjoy a day of good fun, good food and relaxation with our council members. Please contact me by September 1, with the number of persons that will attend. We will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage and soda and water. We ask if you plan to attend to consider bring a dish of food or desert.   So that we don’t end up with too much of the same food, please call anyone of the below committee members with your selection so that we can co-coordinate the food and desert dishes.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST IN COOKING, SET-UP AND BREAKDOWN AT PICNIC PAVILION.

Home Association

Our home association is a separate organization with its own set of officers and its own assets whose mission is to support.

Home Association

Our home association is a separate organization with its own set of officers and its own assets whose mission is to support Council 313. For example when the Council had its own building or ‘home’, the home association was responsible for its management and upkeep. Since the building was sold the association manages the proceeds from the sale, and raises money through the lottery program, and the football extravaganza all to assist Council 313 in its mission (Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism). A main focus of the association has been helping the Council with our meeting rental costs, capital needs, etc. The association is governed by a board of directors. All Council 313 members are eligible to serve. Association president, Jim Hogg is looking for a few good men. Home association directors will be elected following the July 15th council meeting. Contact Br. Jim Hogg at 610-866-7244.

Attendance Award  The name of Bro. John Schlosser was drawn but Bro. John was not present. The award advances to $100 next month.

Someone attending our July 15th meeting will win $100. We did not have a winner of the attendance award at our June 17thmeeting.  So as explained in the last newsletter we increase the amount by $5.00, which means the award for July is $100.00.  When the amount reaches $100.00,we draw names of members until we have a winner (a member in attendance at the

meeting).  AND that is what we do July 15th.  Don’t miss your chance!! He meeting begins at 7:30 PM (Many come early to say the rosary at 7:00).  Our meetings are held at Monocacy Manor on Bridal Path Road, Bethlehem.  Directions: ( which are listed on our website www.kofc313.org)

Every     month we also have a 50/50 drawing, and last month the 50/50 was won by Mark Marino.
